District-specific notes

Keonjhar is covered by the Scheduled Areas notified under the Fifth Schedule; the ST and SC Development Department counts it among the districts covered, with the 1977 order naming the Keonjhar, Telkoi, Champua and Barbil tahasils as they then stood. In Scheduled Areas, Regulation 2 of 1956 bars transfer of land by a Scheduled Tribe member to a non-tribal, so check the status of the village with the Tahasil before any purchase. See tribal land transfer rules.

The district court lists its substations as Anandapur, Champua, Ghasipura, Hatadihi, Telkoi, Barbil and Ghatagaon. Ghasipura has a Gram Nyayalaya. The district website publishes a tahasil and revenue circle profile listing which tahasils fall in each subdivision.
